Named in honor of Vola D. Lawson, the first female City Manager in the Washington, D.C. area and a beloved figure in Alexandria, Vola’s Dockside Grill pays tribute to her remarkable legacy. Vola D. Lawson dedicated 48 years to public service, and her unwavering support was pivotal in securing the final approval for the waterfront redevelopment plan. Her leadership and commitment to the city are celebrated here, where her influence continues to inspire.

This is Sissy, Vola’s Animal of the Month for May!
She is ready to be spoiled after raising a litter of 10 puppies. This 1-year-old, 50-pound sweetheart has a beautiful steel gray coat, an easygoing personality, and loves everyone she meets—including other dogs!
She enjoys playing with toys and chasing balls. Sissy is affectionate, gentle, and loves soaking up attention. She’s off to a great start with training and eager to keep learning.
Now she’s looking for a loving home where she can finally be the one getting all the care and cuddles!
Her adoption fee’s are totally covered for the month of May but Vola’s Dockside Grill☀️
